As always, I'm happy to announce the release of a new IPB skin, this time one called Imperial.

It is a modern design with an elegant colour scheme and packed with features including jQuery powered navigation, a quick login box, customizable topic layouts and avatars as post icons. Take a look at a live demo or read up on all of it's features on the skin page.

After the successful release of Gravity Green, a blue version of the skin has also been released.

Any suggestions or feedback is welcome. :)

I love it as a skin design, but the font could be slightly larger.

As a side: What features will be lost if I was to remove jQuery from the skin? I hate using both Prototype and jQuery on the same webpage, when it's a whole lot better just to code the features in Prototype/Scriptaculous in the first place.

Increasing the font size is no problem.. might do that actually.

Putzy: I have never been a fan of prototype and don't plan on adopting it for future skins. If you were to remove jQuery, you would lose the login box, animated navigation bar and the customizable topic view.

The jQuery file is cached on googles servers (and has a local fallback if google doesn't load), so the files are loaded almost instantaneously and the skin doesn't lag, nor does it noticeably take longer to load compared to my other skins (most of which use jQuery aswell). They're compatible with each other, so why not make the best of both worlds.

Great skin Ehren. I agree though I think the font size should be 12px from 11px. This also fixes the blurry font in the search.

I increased it from 11px to 11.5px since 12px seemed quite large, but anyone is welcome to adjust it accordingly on their own site. :)

Hey there Ehren I noticed the "back to top" button was missing in the skin, was this on purpose?

It was yeah.. although it can be re-added without much hassle. :)

I removed it because the "basic" topic view looked too cramped with it. I might change this in a later version so it's visible in the detailed view only.

They look nice Ehren. I noticed the text for Register Now! changes to Register when you click on it though. (Gravity Blue)

Strange bug, although that also happens on the default skin which means it's a language issue. :)

You can manually change it to "Register Now" if you like, but I need to keep it using the language replacement incase someone is using a language other than English.

Gravity Red would be nice!

In the Imperial skin, are the forum icons customizable? How does that work?

It's exactly the same as any other skin, so yeah - they can be changed easily. :)
